Back in 2005 I grabbed a ferry over to Dublin and the a bus up to Belfast and a hike to Bangor, in Norther Ireland…

This time I have only one day, so I won’t be able to do quite as much, but hopefully I’ll be able to make some new discoveries.

I wasn’t all that impressed by Dublin last time… it doesn’t seem to have either that Big City grandeur nor that Little City charm… it’s a bit shabby--  but not shabby enough to make it “fascinatingly shabby”… I don’t know… Maybe since Irish culture seems so colourful and has played such a big role in the development of my country, I expected a bit too much of this city… Maybe I subconsciously expected to see the whole city painted green and seeing cheerful little leprechauns popping out of nowhere…

I did enjoy visiting the history museum, and walking around in the pedestrian shopping area… and coming across the history rich St Patrick’s Cathedral…

Anyways… I’m back with my guitar to check out this city a second time…

I go ahead and head across the canal and west… down the famous “tourist trap” alley with stereotypical pubs… on up past a couple cathedrals and the Dublin’s famous Guiness brewery…

I keep on going through middle and lower class residential areas… until finally the city turns into sprawling car dealerships and warehouses that really ain’t much fun to hike through…

But there are some hills off in the distance, so I figure if I just keep going a bit, I might discover a charming Irish village…
