I head across the river for a long hike home.  At first I figure I’ll just follow the river all the way to Lyon.  But when I see a sign pointing to Collonges Mont d’Or, I figure, what the hell… I’ll cap the day off with one more town.  So I head in through an industrial section until I reach the railroad tracks…

I continue on south along the railway tracks.  Eventually industrial zone becomes a scattering of houses, but nothing all that interesting… Too late I realize that the Mairie is on the other side of the tracks…

What should I do? The general rule here in France is I can’t count the town if I don’t reach the Mairie… but I really don’t have time to head back…

I decide to count the town anyways, and continue on… After a long stretch of country, I finally reach Lyon with stately mansions built overlooking the river and fun little restaurants at the rivers edge… I even take a little detour to explore a little island…

It’s getting pretty late and my feet are turning in to meatloaf, so when I reach the edge of the subway line, I opt for a quick underground ride the rest of the way…
