After my very short career as a paid musician in Puteaux, I felt both invigorated and frustrated.  I felt like destiny was right within my reach.  Maybe Puteaux was a dead end, but surely other Great Things are out there waiting for me…

Even since starting my parkbenching project, I’ve had the fear that maybe, if I land a paying gig, I’ll end up losing interest in the Global Parkbenching Project and my heart will just be set on earning money as a musician.  So right now is a critical crossroads moment in my Parkbenching Mission.

But my passion for Parkbenching hasn’t faded… I find that even after playing a 5 hour gig, I’m ready and eager to go and discover another town and play another 5 songs on a parkbench for a few random passerbys or no one at all… But I do feel I need to break the routine of the last 8 days of trudging on foot from suburb to suburb, camping in the woods and eating canned food…

And I know just what to do:  I’m going to go to Paris.

And from there? Anything is possible…

Hell, I might just say screw Europe altogether and buy a ticket to India

But to get to Paris, I have yet one suburb to go through:  Neuilly sur Seine.  And even though light is quickly fading, I decide I’d better go ahead and parkbench it… Who knows when I’ll be on the west side of Paris again…

Neuilly sur Seine already has the grandiose Parisienne feel… The main boulevard is lined with very stately 18th and 19th century buildings and even the back alley have your typical regal balconies and high windows.

I take a couple blocks to the north so I can follow “Main Street” which goes past the magnificent Mairie, cathedral, and war memorial--  all of which would make Neuilly sur Seine an extraordinary town if it weren’t for the fact that this town is completely overshadowed by Paris…

But since I evaluate and grade each town individually, I’ll have to say that Neuilly sur Seine is definitely an A town…
