From Le Pecq I contined on down to Marley le Roi.  I headed up the hill past the Monte Cristo Chateau… which didn’t look all that interesting, so I decided to skip it…

Checking on of the maps on the road, I realized that I should go ahead a visit another suburb first, Mareil Marley and then loop my way around back to Marley le Roi… so I head down the hill again.

Up another hill, and I find myself in what feels like a countryside village out in the middle of nowhere… with cozy chalet style houses, a compact little village center and orchards and vineyards up the hill beyond.  Even the Mairie is a beautiful but unpretentious stone building…

I tell you, I’m really loving these suburbs--  of the last 7 that I’ve explored, each is completely distinct from all the others.  And even though Mareil Marley is very small and semi rural, it still has a cohesive feel to it.  It has an identity and a soul of its own.  A village soul… just stones throw away from Paris…

I find a shady bench right in front of the village library and play my songs….
