Arrowtown

Early morning drive to Arrowtown. Located 20 km from Queenstown, claimed to be the best preserved gold mining town. It’s Autumn at its best. The whole town glows with colorful foliage.  The main street has many old colonial buildings at one end and at the other,  tiny miner’s stone cottages.

We went back to the Motel as we had to meet our guide there for the paragliding  activity.  We drove up to Coronet Peak (Ski site during winter). Today will be the Day to remember as  Abg Yusuf and I had decided to take a plunge from Coronet Peak 3500ft from sea level.

Some adrenaline pumping activities to remind us of Queenstown.   Our first experience ever. Leaping from the edge of Coronet Peak and overhanging for several minutes on air, was an exhilarating experience for us. Our guide took photos of us while gliding on air. Wow!!!!!!. Fly like a bird. So peaceful and invigorating. Na, Niza and Saadan were with us at the Peak  but later drove down to the landing spot to meet us.

On the way back we dropped by at Shotover River to experience the  Jetboat rides. Racing upriver between huge boulders (merely touching it) and white water rapids is exhilarating. The boat twist and turn through the narrow canyons at breathtaking speeds. 360 degree was one of the highlight.

After lunch at the motel we joined the Nomad Safari tour. Our guide brought us to see some of the major sites where LOTR was filmed. Our advise if you know your bearing, get a good map, guidebook and drive yourself because it is way much cheaper. However with a good guide you will get in depth explanation on the site you visited and some of the film making processing with  interesting story behind it. Prepare yourself for  an excellent view along the way and having to stop several times to give way to herds of sheep or cows crossing the road
