looks so cool!

This morning Elke came to meet us at our hotel at 9am. We then wandered down to the Salamanca Markets.  We all bought something for breakfast and I bought a couple of things that I couldn't resist.

Then it was off to The Pinnacle, which is the lookout point of Mt Wellington. It is approxamately a 30 minute drive. Obviously, a windy, narrow road. It was such a pretty drive. As we got higher up the mountain we started seeing traces of snow but it was really amazing to see the ice on the trees and bushes. The ice was starting to melt but it was a fantastic sight.

We got out of the car and had a look at the views of Hobart and of course the harbour. The camera worked overtime. Then as we headed down the mountain we took more photos of the snow and ice but then saw a bush and rail with icicles.

That looked awesome!

As it was then lunchtime, Elke took us to her favourite cafe for lunch. Definately a popular place and very nice food.  From there we went to Signal Point on Mt Nelson. Tried to get photos of Mt Wellington and Hobart but not too successful because of the trees. The view was again, great! Of course having Elke as our tour guide helped as we then went to a few other lookouts and under the Tasman bridge. We even drove passed Elke's house, which she is packing up at the moment, getting ready for a big move.

It was getting late in the day and cold, so we went back to our hotel to have a hot drink. Checked the internet while we were there too. :-) Then it was dinner time.  We drove to Hobart North, where there is an area with mainly cafe's, restaurants and take away food. We finally decided on eating in a Thai restaurant.

It was very nice and Elke had never eaten there before so it was something new for her too.

We then went to another cafe for a hot drink and an icecream.   They also sell chocolates. Elke bought me a Teddy bear chocolate that I decided would go home to Adelaide with me.

Although it wasn't really late, because we had all got up so early this morning, we were all a bit tired. I also had to think about packing, so we went back to our hotel and said our goodbyes to Elke. It has been so lovely meeting another Travbuddy. Elke drove off and we went inside. Some time to unwind and then off to bed.

Everyone said that the markets were a must to do. I am not a shopoholic but do like to get a bargain. As we were staying at the top of Salamanca Place… read entire review
