India's largest mosque Jama Masjid

The next day I visited the highlights of new Delhi. First I visited the largest Mosque named Jama Masjid, in New Delhi, where at the centre plaza 25.000 people can sit. It was already very warm and I was glad that there was a waterseller in the neighbourhood. After climbing the stairs you'll have to take of your shoes and a blue with white or orange with white dress will be handed over to you, so you'll be dressed properly to visit the mosque. As it was already quite hot in the early morning the large red stones on the plaza were too hot to walk on. At some points you'll will have a great view over this part of the city. If you'll like to have another great view over Delhi it's possible to climb up at one of the towers against a reasonable fee.

Jama Masjid
After the mosque Jama Masjid I visited a parc and the black-marble platform which marks the spot where Mahatma Ghandi was cremated.

Next I visited the India Gate where there are a lot of people. As the temperature was rising to approximately 42C it was incredibly hot. Many people aksed if they could  take my picture. A woman asked me if I wanted to give a small donation to a school. I gave her some ropies and as a thanx she pinned the Indian flag at my tshirt. The India Gate is a really impressive building and is 42 meters high. It's a memorial arch which hold the names of an enourmous amout of Indian army soldiers who died in Worldwar I. The arch is guarderd and aroud the arch there are ponds. Many childeren are swimming in these ponds.

Nice journal. I was in India in 2009 also, but in the early part of the year. It's nice you had a feature, and well deserved. I thought my journal on India might be featured too one day, but despite much attention from the TB community it never has been. Bravo on the work you put into this!
