Though the airplane would depart around noon, I was advised to go to the airport at least 4 hours because my internet check-in failed. While I was wondering what to do in the rest of the four hours at Schiphol, time was really flying. Before I knew it was time to board the airplane. It was quite busy and all seats were taken. Next to me sat a man and soon we talked for hours about India. He was going to India on a business trip and he travelled around in India about 20 years ago. He told a lot of stories and I wondered how much India must have changed in at least the pas 20 years. You can't compare Holland now with 20 years earlier. He told me what I definately had to see and that most people of the group he was traveling with then were very impressed while traveling through India.
Because we talked for hours the flight was going very quickly. Before I knew the captain announced that we would land within 30 minutes or so. At the moment we landed you already could feel the heat in the airplane though the icy airconditioning was still on. The application card for entering India I already filled in at the airplane, also a questionnaire about flue symptomes had to be filled in. First all passengers from the Amsterdam flight had to be checked at the body heat checker. On a sreen you could see which body parts were blue. green, yellow or red. If you're temperature is too high you would be picked out and set in quarantine. As mine was ok and I got a stamp on the questionairre I was allowed to go to pass the customs. Next to find was my lift to my hotel in Old Delhi, but first I pinned a couple of roepies to survive the first days :-). My lift was slightly difficult to find as there were so many drivers to pick up guests from different hotels. But finally I found my lift and he brought me to the hotel. When we walked out the airconditioned airport it was quite a shock entering the open air, it was really hot. I checked in at the hotel when, I think it was around 1 am so I definately needed some sleep before sightseeing Delhi the next day :-)
