Palawan and El Nido
Palawan is a long island off the south-eastern region of the Philippines. It is one of the last wild frontiers in the Philippines, but the area I went to is more of a tourist area than the rest of Palawan. El Nido is located in the northern part of Palawan surrounded by limestone island formations going straight out of the water. The topology is very dramatic and makes for great photos. My stay at Miniloc, one of the two resorts, was for only 2 days. The resort is an all-inclusive resort with a buffet style dinner, snorkeling, kayaking, pool, scuba diving, and other activities. I chose to go diving.
Most of the other visitors were with a companion or wife. There isn't any nightlife here as the resort is on it's own island, isolated from the main town of El Nido. I met one other traveler who was on the other island, Lagen Resort. He was french and worked for the Saudia Arabian government as a financial advisor.
