Bleilochtalsperre - Bleilochdam and water reservoir
June 21, 2009
The hunt for a place without rain continued. After a while we gave up and decided to take a boat ride on the water reservoir Bleiloch. We bought our tickets and boarded the ship. We ordered something to drink and a snack and waited for the boat to take off. After a few minutes we were on our way. It seemed like the minute we hit the "open water" the rain stopped and the sun came out. Amazing. So we finished our snacks and headed to the top deck. The weather was gorgeous now! I couldn't believe it.
The tour took about 1 1/2 hours. We saw the dam and the camping grounds that are located all around the lake. The water seemed a bit low and the captain of the ship concurred. Apparently they had opened the dam because of the weather forecast. It was suppose to rain a lot for the next few weeks. Great news. grrrrr
After we got off the boat we just had to get one of the Thuringia sausages, yum! We picked up a couple of flyers for nearby sights and headed back to the car. We were off to Burg Burgk.
