This was our hotel in Oia, Santorini
We stayed up in Oia, the only place on the whole island for me. Quiet, serene and you can't beat the most spectacular views in the world. This is the place to go if you want to rest. We sampled the lovely restaurants, we shopped (which is slightly cheaper in Thira
but not much), peered through the gorgeous jewellry store windows, hired a very reasonabley priced quad bike for the day and just spent hours enjoying the stunning scenery. Our hotel (Atlantida Villas) was headed by our delightful host who's only interest is that you relax and have a great time. It's MUCH cheaper than the luxury hotels up that end of the island which is the premium part of the whole place. The pool had a map of the island in the middle of it which was cute.
Our hotel room, bed at the front, kitchenette in the middle and bathroom at the back
It had the most incredible view as you can see, the breakfast was simple and nice (these people are not fat for a reason, they don't gorge themselve on Marriot buffets). Some lucious, thick greek yogurt with honey on top, bread, salami, cheese, coffee and OJ and that was just perfect for me. Nearby in Oia proper we enjoyed the best margarita pizza we have ever had. And in another taverna we also got a liking/addiction for baklava (a greek sweet treat) with Rosewater vanilla icecream. Oh my! On our quad biking adventure we discovered a little out of the way taverna which served the most incredible Calamari we've ever had. You can hire a car for your whole trip, you can rely on the bus, you can hire sail boats and dune buggies and quad bikes if you wish. We went in early june as you can see and it was hot baby so don't be taking anything but shorts and a t shirt for during the day and maybe jeans and a t shirt at night. There is a really cool little taverna for dinner at night who's host is very entertaining. :) I loved this place with a passion. I could easily retire here when the time comes in 30 or so years. :) Beyond Awesome!!!! :) My idea of bliss.
