We gave ourselves plenty of time to get to the bus station and found buying tickets was a breeze, which was nice as we thought we might have struggled. The bus was pretty comfortable and we were soon on our way, leaving Riga bang on time. I managed to get some sleep on the journey despite some scary moments as our driver did some crazy overtaking. By now the sun was out and the bus had become like an oven, so we were glad of the petrol stop where we could grab some water and an ice cream.
Arriving in the early evening, we eventually found our way to the old town and our hostel. After a quick check-in, we made our way out to explore a little and get some dinner. First impressions were good as we had a wander around our immediate surroundings. We found Riga to be very Russian but found Tallinn to be quite Scandinavian with hints of Russian influence. There was also definitely a medieval flavour to the old town as well.
We had worked up quite a hunger after our little exploration and found somewhere to eat on the main square. We had initially thought that Tallinn would be really cheap, but most of the restaurants were offering food at quite a steep rate. The meal was quite good but we couldn't afford to eat so lavishly throughout our whole stay here. The evening finished off with a little more wandering, people watching and a few beers at a bar called Hell Hunt.
