Kronion Thermae, 2nd cent. B.C. to 5th cent. A.D.
Ancient Olympia  is about 32 km NE of Katakolon. There was an entrance fee but I do not remember how much it was. They did however give a helpful pamphlet with a map and description of the ancient ruins along with the ticket. We could have also visited the museum with that same ticket but our taxi driver was only going to wait 1 1/4 hours for us.  We split from our ride share couple since, well, they were old and they were walking slow. Still very sweet people though. I gave them one of our pamphlets, since they didn't get one when we walked in. All the tours that were handled by our cruise ship were already swarming the place. It was a little to busy for my taste. At least in Athens the masses kind of spread out all over the Acropolis, but here you could see people everywhere. It was hard to take in the ancient ruins like that.

We saw the Temple of Hera, the Temple of Zeus, (yeah he's got his cribs everywhere) and the Philippeion, which at the time meant nothing to me.  Again, I was not prepared enough for a qualified visit. I just took in the surroundings, with more time I would have read all the signs and maybe I would have remember some of it. These are just the things I recognized again after some research and reading the pamphlet.

Maybe I'll make it here again one day with more time to explore and enjoy Ancient Olympia, birthplace of the Olympic Games.
