Best day - Short entry!
Week 2 Whale Sharks, Bruised Ear, Narcosis (Maybe, I don´t think so)
So, I left you all while I was preparing to go Whale Sharking in Cancun. I don´t think my words can describe what that was like. We headed out to sea for an hour an a half, and then suddenly all we could see was dorsal and tail fins. 10 minutes later we jumped off the oat, hit the water and realised that I had just gotten in the water with 60+ of the biggest fish in the sea, and they are sharks. They come out of nowhere, which means yes, I did get a tail fin in the stomach. Ouch is my only comment. Take a look at the photos, but as I said, bothing really does this experience justice.
Back on base for another week. This weeks dive skills were underwater navigation and deep diving. Underwater was great fun, practicing on land was rather ridiculous looking. As I am in a gernerous mood I have inculded photos of me wandering around our beach, with a towel over my head practicing!
Deep dive was also nice, 28 meters under water pealed eggs float together and tomotoes go kind of purple (see the evil sneaky fruit veg snook onto a dive!). Unfortunately I got a fit of the giggles which seems to have been classed as Fi is Narked. I deny it! Sadly, the dive came to a poor end as I gave myself reverse squeeze and bruised my ear drum. This meant a day and a half out of the water. I put the time to good use though, and passed my coral test. Hoping to get my algae test passed early next week, then will be able to really start the science part.
Food has improved, we now get fruit which makes an awful lot of difference. Also, if GKS is reading this, I owe you for showing me how to rub people´s backs, I´ve become quite popular. (And by popular, I now have people who fetch me beer).
Other strange things from the week. Saw my first snake, completely harmless grass snake. Unfortunately, our Italian moma neighbour was present, and all that could be heard was a shrieked babble of Spanish, including the word machete repeatedly. I had to go dive, so sadly do not know whether or not the snake made it.
Today is Friday, and it started with our one ´fun ´dive of the week. I don´t really agree with the name, as I find every dive fun, even when we´re working. Had the great pleasure of seeing a 1.5 meter stingray in the sand, less than a meter from us. So unreal, so beautiful!. Now I´m in Tulum with Emma Mike and Tim. The plan is to dive two cenotes tommorrow, one of which includes a halocline. So excited. In the afternoon we plan to climb the mayan Coba ruins, and look out over the jungle. Around these adventures, we will fit in plenty of meat to sort ourselves out for the week ahead.
I think this is a briefer entry, and for that I apologise. But there are photos attached, so maybe I can be forgiven.
Leave me comments and thoughs. Love and miss you all
