Liverpool
After arriving at Liverpool from Manchester, I noticed how very crowded it was particularly around the Albert dock and the main street there. After securing a parking space, I went looking around. It was nearing 4pm so I had to make up for loss time. I didn't have time to do the tour bus thing so I decided to check out the Albert Dock area.
Once there I walked in and around Albert dock taking in the scenery while taking some pictures along the way. I decided to head over to the Beatles Museum. The queue was quite long. They only admitted 10 people at a time for traffic control purposes. A guy tapped me on the shoulder and mentioned that I had a bug on the back of my shirt. Well, that was considerate of him to point that out but not considerate enough to flick it off for me since obviously I can't turn my head all the way back to look at the insect so I can flick it off myself.
..LOL! It took a lady next to me to flick it off for me...LOL! Maybe it was a "beatle" (beetle) on my back or something. Anyway, after managing to be one of the 10 people to get in the museum, we had to wait again. They only had 3 cash registers with only one guy as the cashier. Ahhh...now I see why they did all this....to cater to that "one" cashier...LOL! Once the last 10 people cleared out, we were next to pay for admission. The ticket price was £12.50 for an adult. I paid and walked over to grab an audio tour device. I asked if it was okay to take pictures and she said it was okay even though there were signs posted stating that no pictures were allowed. I took pictures anyway since I asked. Wow! There was so much about the Beatles I never even heard of. I'm not a huge Beatles fan, but I do like listening to most of their music. Paul, John George, and Ringo had some tough times and some great times. They really influenced a lot of people which I already knew about but not to the extent that was revealed in the museum. After the museum tour, I walked out with a sense of knowledge I never had about the Beatles. Of course, I walked passed the Beatles gift shop area since there wasn't anything I needed although they did have some nice souvenirs. Besides, I got most of their songs on my iPod. I figured that it was enough to appreciate them and their incredible talent by purchasing their music. If you are ever in Liverpool, I recommend checking out "The Beatles Story" museum.I continued looking around taking pictures and ran across the statue of Billy Fury. Tom Murphy, a Liverpool sculptor, was responsible for immortalizing Billy Fury in the form of a statue. Billy Fury was a pop singer back in the late 1950's and early 1960's.
I continued my tour around Albert Dock noticing the Mersey River, the Salthouse Dock, and the Canning Dock. It was really getting late and I had that long 3-hour drive back home. I walked over to the shopping centre across Albert Dock and ran into a Nando's Restaurant. I ate there and decided to take off afterwards. I know Liverpool naturally has lots more to offer than what I was able to see. I felt bad that I didn't check out the everything else there (to include the nightlife) but I had to go.
