In 2004 I traveled on the Trans Siberia from Moscow to Ulaanbaatar to Beijing and then I traveled China for 2 more weeks.

Day 6: Lake Baikal

The tour guide had told us that if we wanted to see Lake Baikal, we had to wake up pretty early. As I had slept late the 2 previous mornings and I really wanted to see the lake, I set my alarm to wake up in time. At approximately 8:00am the train would be passing the lake, so I set the alarm at that time.

At 8:00am I woke up from the alarm and quickly got out of bed, grabbed my camera and opened the curtain to my window, to see.... Lake Baikal! Too bad the weather had turned and it was a very cloudy, grey morning. Nonetheless, I had seen Lake Baikal. :)
