Day 3: Trans Siberia Express
The first full day on the train had started, after I woke up from a not so pleasant night. The "bed" was a quite hard and the shaking of the train was something that kept me up for a great part of the night. It was something I had to get used to.
The day itself was quiet and not very exciting. I spent the day watching the scenery passing by, while listening to my cds. Or I read a book to kill the time. During the night we had made several stops, but the first one we had during the day was at Kirov. We had about 15 minutes to walk around, perhaps buy something (food/drinks). The main attraction however where the mongolian merchants on board the train we "swarmed" out of the train and offered all kinds of goods (coat, trousers, bags, shoes, etc.) to the local people.
The scenery I travelled varied from grey and depressing cities and villages to wide spread fields or forests. This was the Russia we barely get to witness on tv.
