Hard Rocks of the World!

Hard Rock Cafe (HRC) has been around since 1971.  The first Hard Rock opened up in London, England.  The Hard Rock Cafes started to spread worldwide afterwards and became well known for housing a large collection of rock and roll memorabilia.

Besides the typical set-up (Rock shops, bars, and dining area),  I love the atmosphere and enjoy checking out the decor and the memorabilia since no two Hard Rock Cafes are alike while having a good beer in hand. More than 70,000 pieces of memorabilia collection (which are acquired through auctions, donations, and private foundations) are rotated from one Hard Rock Cafe to another giving rock and roll music lovers from all over a chance to see some of this visual history close up.

In addition to the Hard Rock Cafes, Hard Rock has expanded to Hotels & Casinos.  A  "short-lived" Hard Rock Park was made in April 2008 located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, which met its untimely demise due to the mix of lack of revenues and the lax corporate lending standards.

Of course the level of service is not consistent in all HRCs but that's to be expected in any restaurant.  The Hard Rock name and hype lends itself to higher priced meals (also depending on location) and gift shop items.  Despite this, I still don't mind visiting them.  I regret not taking pictures of the other Hard Rocks I've visited.  I guess that's justification enough for me to visit them again. ;-)

Below is a list of Hard Rock Cafes I've been to here in the US, Europe and in Northern Africa.  This "ever-growing" list  is in no special order:

I am old enough to have visited the Hard Rock in London when it opened! I was a student then. It was something totally new to the London scene. Now, burger joints abound in London. Yet, there is usually a long queue outside HR in London. By the way, I have also eaten at the Hard Rock Café in Bangalore in southern India. I will post a little review of it on TravBuddy.

I'm a fan of Hard Rock Cafes too. I also like to collect their pins! Was at the Amsterdam Hard Rock last year and hoped to sit at a table canal side but no seats were available so the staff set up a table for us right by the door looking out at the canal -- now that's service!
