Bratsilava the capital of the Slovak Republic. We arrived here by bus at the start of the May Day long weekend, not realising this and forgetting to book some accomodation mixed with Bratislavas distinct lack of cheap hostelesque accomodation, we ended up staying at the Ibis, quite the luxury.
Today was also the day of the cricket world cup final. Unfortunately the Slovaks arent too excited about cricket as a sport which resulted in us not seeing an over. Would have been nice but we celebrated all day with a Bratislava pub crawl anyway.
The old town where we stayed was a lovely place with very european feel to it. The first day we were there was spent going from pub to pub wondering if they had the cricket on, however as we quickly found out anything that doesnt involve ice hockey doesnt get shown in Slovakia. Not to matter we did settle down to a nice meal and what was on the menu, a good old Chicken Parma. A little different from the ones back home, but damn good none the less.
We visited most of the old town highlights on the second day before moving our stuff to new hostel we'd booked. Upon arrival we were informed they'd over booked and we were out. Bastards! So instead of Ibising it up again we got on a train and headed for Budapest.
Apart from the accomodation screw up we thought Bratislava was a great place, really liked it and would definetely return.
