A friend was throwing a great party. I had to attend.

Leaving Honolulu

My close friends were having a party. I love a good party. The problem was, this party was in Chicago. Oh well. I really wanted to go to the party because it would give me a chance to see some friends I haven't seen for a couple of years. I had some obligations the following week, so this could only be a weekend trip. 5,000 miles one way and $1,000 per ticket. But remember, I love a good party. I was scheduled to leave on Thursday night and arrive in Chicago at noon on Friday. Leave Chicago Sunday at noon to return to Honolulu.

Since I was flying a long distance for such a short time, I decided to upgrade to first class on the way to Chicago. I was waitlisted for first class from Honolulu to Los Angeles but I had a confirmed upgrade from Los Angeles to Chicago. At least I would be comfy and well rested for the second part of my journey. I arrived at the Honolulu airport with plenty of time before my flight. I was leaving Honolulu at 8:30 pm and arriving in Los Angeles at 5 am. There's a 3 hour time difference, so the actual flying time is 4 1/2 hours.

Just before boarding, I heard the magical words over the loudspeaker. "Passenger Aloha_Keith, please come to the front desk". That meant UPGRADE. Hooray!!!! I joined the queue of other passengers who were upgraded when this lady just cuts in front of everyone and asks for her new boarding pass. She's singing and dancing like she's won the lottery. When she was informed that there was a line of people waiting for their boarding passes, she responded "We're all going to the same place anyways. What's the difference?" Moron.
