Be free - Rent a bike!

I think the best way to discover Luang Prabang is to rent a bike for a whole day. For less that 1USD you can bike your way to almost every corner and wats of the beautiful place.

Be free - Rent a bike!

On our second day in Luang Prabang, we planned to see more parts in Luang Prabang. I stumbled upon a place not far from where we stayed (Wat That Guesthouse) where we can rent bicycles for the whole day. For about 15,000 kips (less than 1USD) we could ride our way to all over Luang Prabang up to 7pm. The man who ran the place was very friendly although his english was as bad as our lao. We rented three bicycles (one for each) and were given chains and padlocks to keep our bikes safe.

Cycling around Luang Prabang was a very wonderful experience and is very safe too. There is not much traffic there and people are helpful enough to guide you to where you want to go. I saw a few more other places that rent out bikes for tourists too but I realised that the further central you go the price gets higher as well.

Try cycling along the serpentine roads foreseeing the great Mekong. As Luang Prabang is infact a small town by the riverbank, the real beauty of it is best seen from this angle. The classic french-style shophouses surrounded by the mountainous backdrop would surely captivate your attention. Personally, I have fallen in love with that place. Look at the photos that I have taken and you will see why.
