Born and raised in Amsterdam. Lived here for 20 years. Sometimes it's great to come back to this beautiful city. On this day we planned to visit Amsterdam and see different things than the touristy things and find places i grew up. We parked the car just outside Amsterdam ( will give the tip later) and went with the tram to the central station. Here we started our tour by foot. First the Jordaan district and the nine streets area. These are small streets with small shops between the Herengracht and the Keizersgracht. From the Jordaan district back to the big shopping street Nieuwe dijk and took a coffee brake. From the Nieuwendijk up to the Dam square where the royal palace is covered in plastic because of restauration work.
We visited the PC hoofdstreet, the street where the celebs do the shopping. It was not so intresting so we left very quick and went up to the Albert cuyp, the daily market. Here i spent lots of time as a kid, it was close by of my old home. As we entered the street where i lived i found out that the block of houses ( and my old home) where cone and new apartments where build. A little bit disappointed we left and along the amstel canal we went back to the old center. We had a dinner at the Zeedijk and later on we joined the TB meetup group in the restaurant at the Warmoestreet.
TIP: If you travel to Amsterdam, park the car just outside Amsterdam. On a P&R you pay 6 euro's for 24 hours including a public transport ticket up to five persons. It's open for 24/7 and the last tram left the central station at 0:30. If you are later than take the night bus you have to pay 3.50 euro's pp for it . You can parc here for four day's , 6 euro's per day, and than the price is going up to the expensive tarif. The trip with the tram wil take 7 minuts from the carparc and central station.
