Utrecht, one of the big cities of the Netherlands located in the center and is the capital of his own named province. Utrecht became a city in 1122. The center of the city is a mix of history and modern way of building. If you are in Utrecht you can get lost in the big shopping mall "Hoog chaterijne", go to the theatre "Beatrix theatre", visit the "Jaarbeurshallen"for an exhibition ( the holiday fair is is the period from 13 till 17 January 2010), go back in history in the old center, the "oude gracht"is a very special area where you find nice terraces in the summer time. And all in walking distance. And if you arriving by train, you step out in the middle of all these items.
The city is not only a city, it's the place for a lot of students, so in the evening the nightlife starts and lot of cafe's are visited by these students. Outside the city you will find nature like "the utrechtse heuvelrug" and "de lage vuurse", city's like Amersfoort,Baarn and leusden.
This evening i had a personal meet up with TB Marianne( reizenmar), and thanks to her i found new restaurants like "the winkel van sinkel"and the beer cafe "Olivier". It was for us the second time to have a personal meetup, and it's fun to share travel information and places of Holland with a person who worked for a travel agency and know a lot of places in Holland.
