Long Drive Ahead
My other two sons were scheduled to attend a weeklong summer camp for water sports out in New Mexico, begining the Monday after Daniel started his job. Fortunately since this was the first week they would be up there, the camp ask that all staff remain up there over the first weekend for additional training and a weekend program before the camp started taking campers. This meant I lucked out and would not have to drive to N. AZ this weekend as well. whheeww.
So by Sunday morning Austin and Carl were all packed and ready to head out on our 10 hour drive to get them to New Mexico on time for their camp. Since they were headed to Carlsbad (S.E. New Mexico), the shortest route would be through El Paso, Tx. then North into New Mexico.
We left early in the morning so that they would sleep most of the way since the drive out that direction is not very scenic or entertaining for a kid. We reached El Paso in time to stop for an early lunchtime bite to eat, then hurried right along so that we could perhaps enjoy the Carlsbad area some before dinner.
