A Magnificent Soprano
Upon reaching the Finger Lakes, our first stop was the Lively Run Goat dairy where the tasting was of goat cheese (my favorite) rather than wine. Since we can get some of their products in a store at home, We ended up buying some blue that is rather like roquefort.
After a visit to Lucas Wineries, we arrived at our destination, Geneva on the Lake, in Geneva, NY. The resort is fantastic as you can read in my review of it.
Worth discussing beyond what was appropriate for the hotel review is the dinner entertainment. Soprano Anne Byrne had just graduated from Ithica College and is off to the the New England Conservatory of Music. She's apparently been singing here on Friday evenings for 4 years and this was her farewell performance. Anne has what I truly believe is the clearest soprano voice I've ever heard. I was hoping that she had a CD for sale. She did not but promised to send me an audition CD. I know there are a LOT of talented people out there but if there is any justice at all, this young lady will make it big.
We had a King Suite. In addition to the large master bedrooom, it had a second bedroom with twin beds, a large living room, a dining room and full kitchen, In reality, it was a small, well-furniched appartment.
After an (included) wine and cheese party on the terrace, we had dinner in their rather small but opulent dining room. Dinner and service were surpassed only by the entertainment, an excellent pianoist and Anne Byrne, a young lady with perhaps the clearest soprano voice I've ever heard.
Breakfast on the terrace was excellent and we were truly sorry that we'd only booked one night. We'll be back!
