After seeing Skip off on her 12 hour train journey, Vee and Tess left to met up with The Guys. Believe it or not it was good to be behind the wheel again. It was a nice morning in DC, not even a light mist, but as Ocean City grew near the clouds got darker and thicker. About 15 miles outside OC the light rain got heavy enough to warrant turning on the windshield wipers then, sadly, 6 mile west of OC Vee pulled the car over and put the top up. It was a tough decision and, unaware of the many stop lights ahead in OC, Tess was game to go on in the rain but it was the wind that couldn’t be ignored. If you have ever opened an umbrella in the wind you can understand the concern.
As we arrived In OC it was clear that arriving with the top up although sad, was the best choice. About halfway up the strip to the hotel we wondered if we would need to hire a tug boat to complete the journey and on arriving I noticed the palm trees seemed to be bent in half, cartoon style, by the wind. But it was good to see The Guys and I think they were glad to see us and mode of tranporation with a roof!
