Fun little town with lots of older sandstone buildings, very pleasant to walk around. We ate dinner in a family diner across from the "Evans Plunge" that seemed to have quite a few local patrons. We just had to try the buffalo steak which we found quite tasty. Being used to livng around areas that are quite busy on Labor Day weekend I was surprised to see a notice at the diner that they would be closed for the entire 3 day weekend. When we asked about notice we found out that tourist season was pretty much over and that most of the locals go away for the weekend, the gentleman we talked to was looking forward some time away in Deadwood. ummm, wonder what the difference is?

The hotel was nicely decorated and had that nice boutique hotel & spa look. Check in and check out were pleasant. We had some wine at the bar and the service was great (we had already eaten dinner but the menu sounded appetizing) Good hot water & water pressure, something I'm never sure I'll get in a historic building. And the spa rooms were well cared for. However, the noise from the street during the night overshadowed everything else. Pehaps they need to invest in some good triple pane windows. If I get back to Hot Springs I think I would definitely try to book a spa treatment, perhaps try the restaurant, but probably think twice about booking a room.
