I had to drive across the country to a new job, with no adavnce notice. There was no way to leave before Friday. Tuesday was my last day at my 'real' job, Wednesday was packing and stuff, and Thursday was feline relocation. After that I had to drive all the way across the country, Something I've always wanted to do, but with more time to do it.

I wasn't able to stop here, it was rather late in the day, and they require too much time. However I took a few photos of the colorful rocks along Interstate 40 Although Interstate 40 is mostly desert, to see all the scenic beauty of it you need about ten days.

The Grand Canyon is too far off to make a side trip for an hour, and I still haven't been there, so had to keep going. you drive past Williams AZ, where the steam train will take you to the Grand Canyon, but I could only watch the train from a distance, not even time to pull off and check out the station.

The Painted Desert and Petrified Forest were right of the freeway, but both require too much time, and by the time I got there it was too late in the day even if I had time, so had to keep going

There were still tons of painted cliffs along the freeway. It may be desert but was no where near a barren wasteland, and never really hot that day either.
