Needles Ca, Ca-AZ State Line
The California desert is full of little houses surrounded by old Santa Fe boxcars. There were a hundred signs for Needles. Not because it is a big city, just the only city out there. So I pulled over and took a few photos. When the Colorado River came, and the state line, it was obvious that neither California or Arizonaz would pay for road repairs on the state line, so for two miles on either side there was nothing but potholes. Then it happened. Right on the border, my camera died. For me, to travel without a camera is like driving without a car. Would it be possible to continue? But there was really no turning back. And as picky as I am with cameras, there wouldn't be the right one for hundreds of miles. And sadly, the scenery in northern Arizona was quite unique, and not at all like the barren wasteland known as Phoenix. So I drove up and up past giant rock formations with giant trees growing through them, giant farms and forests, and not one store that would sell a decent camera. Also during this time I was stopping frequently to fill up my car, since you never knew how far away the next gas staion would be, or whether or not they would gouge you at the pump. If you do this though, it will alert your credit card company, who will call you thinking it might be stolen, which I found out at one of the gas stations.
