Off at a Trot
We set out on foot again today, bright and early, with the objective of seeing Minnewater; a lake or basin on the canal system. It is a picturesque spot, surrounded by parks, a nearby monastery, and home to a large number of swans. The swans are to Bruges what the ravens are to the Tower of London.
It is also where the ponies, which pull the many carriages containg tourists, are rested, fed and watered. We later boarded a carriage in the Market Square and took our ride around the city in the warm sunshine.
After a delicious lunch at a canal-side restaurant, we resumed our exploration on foot. With so many wonderful views and interesting shops, it's easy to walk a long way. We must have covered at least 20 miles in the 2.5 days we were in Bruges. We rest tomorrow - back home on the Eurostar train.
This is certainly a must-see place. We may return for the Christamas Markets.
