Samal Island
Population: 90,000
There are things you can do in this island, aside from swimming, diving, snorkeling and relaxing. We stayed at Paradise Island Beach Resort, it was very nice and very reasonable price. I also love the foods they served. Excellent service and friendly staff. The resort also offers inland tour which cost around Php2,500 for a maximum of 8 to 10 persons. That's what we paid for the van rent, the driver (who was also our tour guide).
Places to see in Samal island:
- Bat cave
- Hagimit Falls
- White house (overlooking the island of davao)
- Maxima resort's giant slide (we weren't able to visit this place)
- or just tour around the island to see the locals living there.
For me, one day or overnight stay iin Samal isn;t enough. 3 days will do, but I could stay here for a week!!! I would love to! I would so much recomment this island. I'd say there's a lot more you can do and a lot more to explore in this island compared to the usual island of Boracay. But Boracay's white sand is finer than that of Samal beach.
If you love non-stop partying then Boracay is a great option but if you want a mix of everything then Samal island is the place to be!
