We made our way from Thanaleng to Vientiane which only took 10 minutes and cost us 40 baht per person. We were dropped off at Lao National Museum area. We then were crossing the road to a guesthouse where Nikie’s friends stayed. We put our stuff, paid our MINIVAN ticket that will take us to Luang Prabang that afternoon then went around the town. We had Lao noodle soup for lunch and stopped by at a coffee shop to have Lao coffee and checked the internet. Sjeez, why can’t we leave without internet these days?

It was 3:30 PM when a guy picked us up to drop us at the bus station where the MINI VAN was supposed to be there. But when we arrived, we were thrown into an ordinary bus instead of minivan! We were being RIPPED OFF big time! We paid $19 for MINIVAN and we got the service of ordinary bus which only cost $9. We were pissed off! Complaining was not an option at that moment because the guy who dropped us already disappeared as fast as lightning.

Lunchy!
So we tried to accept everything, otherwise it would ruin our trip.

The bus was only half full and we were the only foreigners in the bus. The driver played Lao songs and sing along all the time! The locals were chatting and laughing with each other as if they have known the other passengers forever.  I was pissed but somehow I found serenity in this situation. I changed my attitude from being the unlucky person to be the lucky person because I got the opportunity to experience the real Laos.

After a couple of hours driving the bus just stopped in the middle of nowhere. We were confused with the situation. We thought the bus was broken or had a flat tire. But we heard someone yelled “TOILET, TOILET”. We looked for the toilet but there was nothing! It was only wild bush everywhere! So, basically the toilet is everywhere peeps! You can just mark your turf and go pee there! Haha! It was hilarious!

The bus ride took us forever because the toilet thingy happened every hour and the bus ran 30km per hour! We had to cramp in the small seats of the bus which was kinda torturing for 12 hours! But we made it somehow!

We arrived at 4 AM in Luang Prabang. STRANDED at the bus station.

sometimes it does - once in the middle of the outback in australia I went on a trip. And then next to the road was a little toilet sign with ladies on the left and gents on the right - nothing else.
