Quick passage through Mumbai
I'd been misinformed that Indian hotels weren't very nice but the Hyatt was beautiful and THE most modern I've ever stayed at! After a delightful buffet breakfast, the hotel shuttle took me to the airport for the relatively short trip to Pune. This was the first time I'd sen India in the daylight and it is certainly different from anything I'd experienced. The Mumbai airport is surrounded by some huge slums so naturally, we drove right by them. One thingthat amazed me was that many of the people standing in front of them, apparently waiting for busses, were dressed as I was and carrying brief cases, obviously on the way to an office. Because I was flying business class, I was able to wait in a very nice lounge but even from there I could see into the slums. That's as close as I got to them but what I saw in the movie, "Slum Dog Millionaire" was not far different.
