DAY 1 TIOMAN
My alarm went off right at 7am.. WHOOP!WHOOP! Ouch, was painful getting up after only 3 hours sleep! I got to Pudraya bus station, to buy my ticket to Mersing, only to find out the 9am bus was fully booked, and the next one was at 11am, so I had almost 3 hours to spend.
I found a luggage deposit in the staion, then walked around until I found some Indian cafes by the Hindu temple and had some daal and roti canai for breakfast. Then I went to the Museum of telecommunications for a while.
The bus journey from KL to Mersing was about 5 hours, I have got to say that the scenery involved looking at man-made palm plantations, man-made deforested palm areas, a few hills and a couple of towns, and 3 roundabouts... so I recommend to sleep on the bus.
I got my ticket for Tioman for 35 ringits, the boat only took 1.5 hrs so was worth it. By the time we got to Tioman Island, it was pitch black, so I stumbled around looking for cheap rooms, and found that Johan's had the only dorm in Air Batang (ABC), and it's 15 RGT a night.
DAY 2 TIOMAN
Woke up this morning to the sun beaming through the window :) So I got up looked outside, and could see the beach calling me. I spent the day sunbathing, swimming, walking around, taking photo's and generally checking the place out. People are so friendly here, and more so from my little bits of learning Malay! I can say Selamat detang (welcome), selamat pagi (Good morning), Selamat Batan (Good evening), Terimah Casi (Thank you), and Sama Sama (your welcome).
The beach is beautiful here, and so is the wildlife. I saw some monitor lizards in the afternoon, and some monkeys by my room. And the food is also good, I also found a place that does fried peanutbutter sandwiches! Yum! Will do some snorkelling tomorrow, and possibly walk to Salang (another lovely beach/area) through the jungle, will also book a scuba diving trip from here to Coral Island.
AAaaaahhh! Another beautiful day on this Island! Another day swimming snorkelling and trying to upload pictures on this site, and yet another computer crash half way through the upload, so I logged off, paid the guy, dropped by bag and jumped into the sea fully clothed. (I'd like to add that no one at home will ever know the stress of trying to load pics online while travelling!)
Met some great people back at the dorm, Aisla from Australia, David from Germany, Melvin from Netherlands and Ibrahim from Australia. We all went for food, and a night on the beach sipping under some palm trees, thena bonfire party on the beach. A great last night!
