Day of travel and lonliness

I arrived in Singapore around 5:30 this morning and had a short connection for my flight to Narita. Finally after a 7 hour flight, we landed in Tokyo around 3:00pm. I went through quarantine, immigration and customs.. then made my way to the airport hotel. I stayed at the ANA Crowne Plaza since it was only a short bus ride away. I stayed there for a while just relaxing after being up for such a long time. Eventually around 7pm I decided to go out. On the advice from a flight attendant that I had met earlier in the week, I decided to stay in Chiba instead of going all the way into Tokyo. The airport offered a free shuttle to the local train station so I took it.. not knowing what to expect. There were tonnes of bars and restaurants in the area but I was feeling a little tired and overwhelmed and decided not to go in any of them.. probably also because I was by myself and didn't want to be the one person standing out!! After going in a few shops, I made my way back to the hotel. I was feeling a little lonely and ready to get back home. I ordered some room service, ate and then went to bed. It wasn't a very exciting day but I was still glad to finally be in Japan.

Another great hotel
I stayed one night at the ANA Crowne Plaza (at narita airport) on my way home from a business trip in Aisa. I had a 28 hour layover and wanted to find a hotel at (or near) the airport so I could be close. The ANA Crowne Plaza is fairly easy to get to. There is a shuttle bus that departs from Terminals 1 and 2 of Tokyo Narita. The times do vary depending on if it's day or night. Once you arrive in Narita, ask the hotel information desk located at the arrivals area for the specific pick up location and time. The hotel is situated up on a big hill. The reception lobby is 2 story and has some nice decorations. It's not exactly a modern hotel, but still nice. The check-in staff were very kind and I was greeted yet again with a han-written note from the manager welcoming me to the hotel (this must be the same for all Crowne Plaza Hotels). My room was on the 14th floor. It was a much smaller room than other hotels I've stayed at.. but certainly big enough for me and my bags. The bed was really comfortable with a lot of pillows (which is always a plus for me). The bathroom was a standard size.. but it had the typical "Japanese" toilet in it. One that has heated seats and can clean your ummm.. special areas if you choose!!
The hotel offeres a breakfast buffet each morning. It was $25.00 USD which is quite expensive (especially since I probably only at 3 dollars worth), but it's still nice to have something at the hotel instead of finding it on your own. I ordered room service the night I was there and the food wasn't the greatest (despite the price), but it was still food and I was hungry!!
The hotel offers a free shuttle bus to the town of Narita where there are some shops, restuarants and bars. This area apparently is pretty popular with cabin crew and tourists who are on overnight layovers. Especially since Tokyo itself is actually an hour train ride from the airport.
I would reccomend this hotel to anyone who has a long layover and needs to get some rest after/before a long flight. If you want to see Tokyo, then this isn't the place for you.
