Today it's my 27 birthday!! How many people (other than Bengali's) can really say they've spent their birthday in Bangladesh!! Once again I had my 8am breakfast then went back up to my room to pack for my flight tonight. After going to the office for a bit, I left for the plant again for some last inspections. We were there till about 3:00pm and then Fahad and I left a little early so that I could get a true experience of Bangladesh.. rickshaws!! Man. it was pretty fun.. and a little scary. I literally was about 3 inches away from having my shoulder smashed by a massive truck!! The streets hear are so crowded and all you hear all day/night long are carhorns beeping!! The 45 minute ride cost 25 taka (about 35 american cents!!).
From their we made our way downtown to do some shopping for souvenirs. I ended up buying 25 scarves made of pashmina and cashmere to take back for family and friends. I spent a lot of money but I know there will be some happy women in my life!! After shopping we met Rick and the head of our Bangladesh office at a really nice Indian restaurant to celebrate my birthday dinner. Oh my gosh.. the food was absolutely incredible!! We literally stuffed ourselved full (in true American fashion). Afterwards I made my way back to the hotel, showered, packed up the last of my stuff, and headed to the airport to begin my journey home. I am flying Singapore Airlines back to Singapore and then connecting to a flight to Tokyo Narita where I'll get to spend a day or so before returning to the States. I loved my birthday in Bangladesh.. certainly one to remember!!
