New Year, we called Pian who was on a holiday in Ko Lanta and asked him to check whether there were rooms available. He said there's one and he would hold it for us. So, on New Year 2007, we took a van to Ko Lanta. The van trip was confusing, almost awful. We had to shift 3 vans before reaching Ko Lanta, although initially we were told in Phuket, what we paid for would get us straight to Ko Lanta. We got there all right, but just on 3 different vans, 3 different operators. We were just thankful we were not expected to fork out money 3 times.
But once I reached Blue Sky Chalet and saw the beach, yeeeaaayyyy. The resort operator said it was peak season so it would be pricey. 400 baht.
5th pleasant suprise : Bumped into Nic, the man who was responsible for getting me to love diving. Nicola is my dive instructor whom I met on Perhentian Island, Malaysia. Also bumped into another dive master I met in Malaysia. Apparently, this is where they all flocked to during the monsoon break in Malaysia. Nic was leaving for Bali in a day or two, so he suggested where I should go to for good diving.
Love love love Ko Lanta. The beach was quiet though there were many people. The snorkling trip was good, swam through a cave (Emerald Cave). I dived in Hin Daeng, Hin Mueng, saw a leopard shark. Definitely will go there again.
