New York City, NY 2008
March 9, 2008
In March 2008 we went to New York City, NY for the first time. It was also my husband and I's first time flying. We were scheduled to fly out of the Parkersburg/Wood County airport, on March 8, but with the snow our flight was delayed, a few hours later when we were supposed to leave they delayed us again, this happened all day, eventually they just canceled the flight, and booked us on the flight leaving the next morning. We came back the next morning, to clear skies and the roads were clear, it was like nothing had happened the day before, but we made it to Washington Dulles International airport. Since we were reschedule for our flights, the flight times they rescheduled us for didnt have a very big layover at all. So we barely managed to make it to our flight from Washington to JFK airport. We were the last ones to board the plane and before we boarded they said that our carryon luggage would not fit, they would need to put it under the plane. So we boarded, then they came on the plane and announced that they were having diffculty arranging luggage to fit under the plane and they were bringing some up and rearranging everything. when they brought some luggage up and started putting it in overhead bins we noticed that 2 of the bags they brought up were the 2 people we were traveling with, there was 4 of us traveling and we all just carried carryon bags, no checked luggage. So we all said we needed to grab their luggage before leaving the plane, they brought some other bags, one of which was my bag but I did not notice since it was completely black and blended with everyone elses bag. So I left my bag on the plane, and didn't get it back until 3 days into our trip, when we arrived in New York City, the first thing we had to do was go buy me all new make-up and clothes.
The second day we went to Times Square and spent the whole day there. We went to the Toys R Us, they had a huge ferris wheel inside the center of the store which we rode, it was my first and last ferris wheel ride.
The next day we went to the top of the Rockefeller Center, it was really high up. We got some really cool pics from up there, it was really scary. We went to the Statue of Liberty, we didnt' however have the time to go up inside it, but hopefully one day we will return and be able to.
My husbands favorite thing was when we went to the Nintendo World Store, they had a bunch of old vintage Nintendo stuff. Even one gameboy that was damaged in Gulf War...but still works!
We did Central Park the morning before we left, to come back home. Our flights coming home were much less stressful. We do plan on returning to New York some day to finish seeing stuff we never had the chance to see this time.

Wellington Hotel New York
This hotel was in a perfect location. It was within walking distance of almost everything. Central Park was especially close. Our cab driver had no problem finding the hotel either. Our room was very small but comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. We didn't really have that much of a view out the window just of the building across the street. And we could see a little of the street below us. The only thing we could say bad was that occasionally we could slightly hear talking in the other rooms, but not enough to actually bother us, and you could really hear talking in the hallways we were at the very end of the hall so we rarely heard this but it did happen. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I had lost my suitcase during the flight and as soon as it arrived at the hotel I was notified, which showed a very good and reliable staff. If we were to go back to New York we would definitely choose this hotel again. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel!
