Bandar Seri Begawan
After visiting the Niah National Park we decided to head to Brunei for a couple of days as it wasn't too far away.
We got a bus to Miri and stayed the night before heading for Brunei by bus. We stayed in the very small capital of Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) at the KH Soon Resthouse. This was one of the few budget options but was reasonable for a couple of nights.
We were hoping to see some of the national park but a tour was the only option and it was very expensive so we settled for a couple of days wandering around the city.
We visited the Tamu Kianggeh market and looked at the Omar Ali Saifuudien Mosque and also went on a boat tour to get a glimpse of Istana Nural Iman, the Sultans Palace before seeing the Kampung Ayer (water village) where many of the locals still live there traditional lives in wooden houses on stilts around the Brunei River.
