I loved going to Mount Vernon. I got to walk threw Washington's gardens, barns, even got to get a look at his outhouse! I loved the walking we had to do, personally, because it was the way every one back in that day in age had to get around on there land. Yes, they had horses too, but you cant take in the real thing as if you were walking the land. I do wish we could have been able to actually go threw all the buildings more instead of just standing in the doorways and looking in at what ever was visible from there. Oh, at one point ,I was walking threw the garden were the cooks got there herds and spices, and while walking on the stone pathway and tripped! It was funny. I do have to say though. Out of the whole visit, I LOVED the views there! The view over the river, along with the tall trees! It was so beautiful! The line to go threw the Washington's house gets long by the way! But it goes semi fast! I personally didn't go threw it.But the couple we were with made it threw and said that it was nice! And the line didn't take long! There is a cruse, too. When we went, they had one coming at noon and another at 1 pm. I hope to who ever goes, goes threw it all with the widest eyes! There is a lot to see and so much to take in! So, much to learn. In the woods they even have spots marked off to were that was the spot were they had gathered wood from and a spot were they had gathered cobble stones to build buildings with. Its great knowing that you are standing were history toke place!
