I visited the USSR, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics in 1988: Moscow and Leningrad (nowadays St. Petersburg). In 1995 we stayed another two days in meanwhile St. Petersburg, Russia. This time two days Moscow, three days ‘Golden Ring’ (Vladimir, Suzdal, Kostroma, Yaroslavl and Sergiyev Posad), two days Petrozavodsk in Karelia, one day in Novgorod and finally three days in St. Petersburg. Now I can say, Moscow and St. Petersburg are absolutely worth visiting.

Petrozavodsk

In the early morning a short stop on our way. Temperature was changing!

At about 11.00 am we arrived at the railwaystation in Petrozavodsk. Went to our hotel for a shower and a very nice (buffet style) lunch.

In the afternoon we visited nature reserve Kivatch. On our way we stopped at a nice wooden church, The Church of Assupmption in  Kondoponga. A wooden stucture without nails!
