France at 5 MPH

We'd been thinking about a canal barge trip for years. While some are attracted to the crewed “hotel” barges, we wanted to "do our own thing". By that I mean we simply rented the boat; no captain or crew other than ourselves. To make the long flight worthwhile, we added 2 days in Paris to the front end and a week with a car at the back. I'll put the second week in a separate blog.
