Day 21: Fukuoka
Our full last day in Fukuoka.... sigh. So I went with 2 other members from the group to visit the Fukuoka Tower and the Fukuoka Yahoo Dome for a stadium tour.
We took the subway and then walked to the Fukuoka Tower. It was a very warm and sunny day, so the airconditioning was a welcome enjoyment once we got in the tower. We took the elevator to the top floor for a view of the city. Due to the sunny weather, we had clear skies and we could look far into the distance. Then we went down and walked to the Yahoo Dome, visiting the nearby mall first, called Hawks Town. There I bought my last cd of the trip, a best of cd by Atari Teenage Riot. A lunch at McDonalds and then we walked to the Dome for a stadium tour.
The guide showed us around the stadium, taking us through the stands, inside to the bullpen (warm up place for pitchers) and the away team dressing room and then onto the pitch to have our picture taken in the team uniform while holding a bat. After the tour we went to a nearby mall and then took the subway back to our hotel. While walking back from the subway station to the hotel, we went into an electronical department store. There we found the latest in household appliances, such as all kinds of toilet seats and a microwave inside a refridgerator????
At night we had our last dinner together in Japan before we returned to our hotel to finish packing our suitcases for our return flight home, which was very early in the morning.
