Final Days in Nairobi
Since leaving Michigan in January, Scott and I held open British Airway tickets to Sudan from Kenya. We booked seats for the 1:00 a.m. flight to Khartoum. Our final days in Nairobi were hectic; writing letters and post cards, shopping for keepsakes, and shipping small boxes home containing our bulky boots, souvenirs and pictures which were mostly slides.
John was out of town flying a job in Arusha. We treated Stoley to a splendid dinner at the Semba Grill, a fine restaurant at the PanAfric Hotel. That was the least we could do for all of his help during the previous two months. Without his generous hospitality Scott and I would have had to leave Kenya weeks earlier. On the way to the airport, Stoley brought us to the Starlight Club for several Kenya Canes.
