Bird Thai
The Bird Thai restaurant is a winner. It started as a take-away in 1993, but their tasty offerings led to success and a full service restaurant in 1998 (they still have a take-away snack bar next door). The décor and service sets the atmosphere, and the food practically sweeps you away to Thailand. For appetizers Kim had a Tom Yum Coconut soup with the best broth ever and I enjoyed a prawn soup with mushrooms and a clear, spicy broth. The literature Kim had read stated that Bird was noted for their curry sauces, so Kim had seafood in yellow curry, beef in green curry for me. The waiter set our dishes and a huge bowl of rice on the table and scooped out a hearty helping of the white stuff on either plate for us – time to dig in. Both entrees were top shelf, Kim’s curry was exceptional and almost a custard.
Apologies if we are trying to give you the Bird, but it is a great place to enjoy some Thai!
