Playing with the Vacuum Packer

During our crazy day of errands, I think we bought about 50 lbs of meat, pork, and fish! LOL. With that we bought a vacuum packer so I could properly freeze everything here. I ended up spending almost 5 hours trying to get everything done. Uuuugh! Between seasoning everything and then actually getting the stuff to seal - apparently I'm challenged when it comes to using the machine. :D
Fortunately we had enough spices to make Emeril Lagasse's Essence seasoning which I put on most of the meats - the steaks, chops, and some of the pork tenderloin. Our fridge and freezer are not that big so making sure everything was vacuum packed certainly freed up some more space.
After completing that, it was time to cook yet again! Seems as though I am spending most of my waking hours in that kitchen! HAHA. But it's been fun actually trying to cook in a new country given how different stuff is. Between lack of ingredients, learning to deal with a small oven, only two burners, and a much smaller space than I am used to, it's been a challenge but also has shown me that I CAN do it with available resources.
We ate Shrimp Saganaki with a Spanokorizo (spinach and rice) side dish and Brett brought home some yummy ice cream I've never seen in the US - Brandied Black Cherry ice cream bars covered in dark chocolate. HEAVENLY!
