I get to Singapore, its very very clean, I think a bit too clean... Driving down the highway, you see palm trees everywhere, flowers all over the place even on the highway railings (Definitely different from Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok lol) I feel like I am in a futuristic movie, where everything that we can do that is bad is taken away from us, and we are fined for anything that we do that is deemed 'inapproapriate' by the authorities. There is a sign on the airport shuttle that you get fined 120 Singapore Dollars if you dont buckle your seatbelt. Really?!
Met up with Peggy for some local food the night before, but tonight my friend Malvin had put together a meetup for me, since I did the same thing when he was in New York last year. We had a few beers, some hotwings, was a very good time! It was nice to meet Malvin, Florianne, Peggy, Rome, Augustin and others in Singapore...
Singapore has probably the most western perspective of any of the asian cities that I have been to. There is a greater influence from Britain and even the United States, people work alot more and get less time off... Also what I didn't like was that there wasn't a sense of 'Singaporean' identity when I was there. You walk alittle bit away from the business center and you in Little India, walk a little bit and you in Chinatown. You can get very good Japanese food for very cheap! I was caught on multiple occasions asking myself, 'Where am I???'
