We had a great time in Halong Bay, now we are back to Hanoi...
We have been in Hanoi for a few days and have not really seen any of the city at all... Its our last and we want to see some of the interesting places in Hanoi. We decide to go to 'Mansion Centrale' the site of a legendary vietnamese prison, where the French used to keep Vientnamese prisoners in shacels, and where Vietnamese used to keep American prisoners of war. The Prison used to be know as 'Hanoi Hilton' as a joke haha
You go through the former prison, they have a recreation of how the Vietnamese prisoners used to be housed, chained to their beds, in horrible conditions that no person should be held in.
Then they had a room depicting the uniforms that American prisoners of war were wearing and beds they were sleeping in. They were alot nicer than the French were to the Vietnamese. But what is a museum in Vietnam without alittle propaganda! They had video screeens showing Vietnamese video of the Vietnam War and depicting the Americans are extremely cruel and horrible people, but at the same time trying to show how 'nice' the American prisoners of war were treated, making it seem like it was all fun and games for the prisoners, they were playing billiards, smiling, planting gardens, playing basketball.. WOW! Vietnamese prison sounds like so much fun!!!
Ok we are on our way back to Bangkok, can't wait to meet Bennie & Ket,, Derek & Ashley again!
