Nice, comfortable hotel although a little far from Havana centre
Stayed at this hotel for nine nights from 17 May 2009. We stayed in a bungalow. I liked the layout of the hotel with the bungalows arranged around a swimming pool that weaves itself around the complex. There were also rooms in the main building of the hotel.
The food in Cuba is quite bland (not enough spices/seasoning) and even blander in the hotels. The breakfast did not appeal to me at all - eggs benedict, sausages etc - which is why I had a freshly made omelette every morning. Had Pizza a few times in the Italian restaurant which was freshly made and very nicd. Tried the a-la-carte restaurant once - never again - bland, tired food.
I liked this hotel, felt very comfortable there, hotel staff were polite, room cleaned adequately every morning, the cleaner would also arrange your nightclothes and towel into funny shapes!!
The hotel provided a shuttle bus that took guests into Havan four times a day. We were grateful for this as the taxi fares were between £7 and £12 a time. This meant we always had to be ready to catch the bus at either 9am or 11am or return at 7.30pm or 10.45pm. It would have been great if there were a 2am and 4am bus for those nights out partying but we were grateful for the buses provided.
