majestic Arenal...covered in fog =(
At day 3, I am now awed and entertained by the traffic choreography on the streets of Costa Rica. On our daily complimetary breakfast, my friend and I sit on the hotel's outdoor patio and watch the traffic. We both agree that road rage seems overrated or almost unknown here since the general rule of thumb seems to be give and take, that the car horn is the driver’s best friend, if there is space on the road, it will be used. And I’m thankful that there seems to be a helmet law here.

Another cultural observation is that people address visitors in a formal manner. For example, they would address me as "lady," but not in a condescending way at all, but as a respectful term.

There’s not much to share about today, except that we got some genuine rest and relaxation spending half the day at Tabacon Grand Spa in La Fortuna, day trip we joined through Grayline Costa Rica, home to several thermal springs.

And the resort is incredible! Soaking on these thermal baths was a spa in and of itself already. And then top it off with a great drink served from the bar situated I the middle of the pool. The sun wasn’t cooperative today, it rained half the time, and overcast the rest of the time. But the air remained warm and comfortable. Lunch and dinner at the resort’s restaurant were great; the menu and table service were all excellent. I’d give two thumbs up for this tour if only we were able to see Arenal clearly, least to say that it was covered with clouds, with no signs of any volcanic activity. Funny, it's one of the reasons why I wanted to visit Costa Rica....ok, not so funny anymore. Also, the drive is pretty long and bumpy, that I would suggest an overnight stay in La Fortuna if you plan on engaging in any activity around the area, so the day won’t end up long and tiring.

As our tour bus dropped off passengers to their hotels, the lobbies are full of guests and locals gathered around the TV or big screen watching and cheering on a soccer match between Costa Rica and USA...as of an hour and half ago, Costa Rica was winning...
